Sacramento Regional Transit (SacRT)
December 2021 – February 2023
In 2019, Sacramento Regional Transit launched SacRT Forward, a newly redesigned bus network that was implemented to reflect customer needs, meet current travel patterns, and improve connectivity with more direct service and better frequency.
As part of SacRT Forward, there were several bus route modifications that took place in SacRT’s service area with the goal of serving county residents that had previously been underserved. This resulted in new bus service on corridors that in some cases do not have usable pedestrian access, including some locations that have limited sidewalk access and/or are not ADA accessible.
Civic Thread is partnering with SacRT to develop a Bus Stop Improvement Plan, which will create a comprehensive list of necessary and desired improvements to bus stops, amenities, and supporting pedestrian infrastructure. Civic Thread is engaging the community to identify priority needs through walk audits, assessments, and workshops, and will ensure that low-income and minority community members have a full opportunity to engage in the planning process.
How to Get Involved
- Civic Thread Newsletter: Get all the latest information on Civic Thread’s work and engagement opportunities. Contact us to be added!
- Bus Stop Improvement Survey: What do you think about Bus Stops in the Sacramento region? We want to know! Civic Thread in partnership with Sacramento Regional Transit created a survey to better understand the conditions and accessibility of Sac RT bus stops. Your feedback will be valuable to highlighting where challenges and barriers exist. Respondents will be randomly selected to win one of five $20 gift cards or a month of free transit. The survey will take about 3-5 minutes to complete and is available in 9 languages. Access it here until June 6th:
- Community Walk Audits: Walk audits will be conducted to inform community members about the project, gather feedback from resident experts, and identify issues with bus stops. The locations of the walk audits will be informed by the findings from the Community Survey.
- Open Houses: Planned for Summer and Fall 2022, Open Houses will provide the opportunity for residents to express their personal experiences with transit and inform plan development.
